WHY CHOOSE A CHEMICAL PEEL
TREATMENT?
Chemical peel facials work by using active ingredients that eat away at the top, dead layer of skin, revealing fresh, revitalised skin. It is perfect to help target acne or acne scaring, minimises sun damage/pigmentation, reduce persistent breakouts and excess oil, help with uneven skin tone, enlarged pores and reduces fine lines/wrinkles.
DOWNTIME/PEELING -
Some skins MAY see physical peeling after having a chemical peel treatment, whilst others may not, it is very individual. Most modern chemical peels now have a minimal downtime. Hydrated healthy skin and skin that is used to more active products will show minimal peeling, often the peeling happens at a microscopic level rather than in large flakes. Seeing lots of flaking does not mean the peel has been more effective. Even if there is no flaking post treatment, the peel is still working by accelerating cell turnover, brightening skin and improving texture.

A glycolic based peel that targets melasma, hyperpigmentation, sun damage and dehydrated skin (this peel is safe to use on darker skin)
PURE BHA PEEL -
A salicylic acid based peel. That targets blemishes, acne and suitable for sensitive skin.

IMPORTANT PRE AND POST CARE INFORMATION -
IT IS IMPORTANT TO STOP USING ANY ANTI AGEING CREAMS WITH ACTIVE INGREDIENTS (SUCH AS RETINOL, GLYCOLIC ACID ETC) 2 WEEKS BEFORE YOUR CHEMICAL PEEL.
PLEASE INFORM US IF YOU HAVE A NUT ALLERGY AS ONE OF OUR PEELS CONTAINS MANDELIC ACID CONTENT.
YOU MAY NOT BE SUITABLE FOR A CHEMICAL PEEL IF ANY OF THE FOLLOWING THINGS APPLY -
- ACTIVE COLD SORES OR HERPES SIMPLEX IN THE AREA.
- PREGNANT OR BREASTFEEDING.
- CHEMO OR RADIOTHERAPY IN THE LAST 6 MONTHS
- SKIN CANCER (MELANOMA) IN THE PAST.
- ACTIVE ECZEMA, PSORIASIS OR ROSACEA FLARE UPS (AT TIME OF TREATMENT)
- SKIN INFECTIONS.
- OPEN SORES OR WOUNDS, SUNBURN OR EXCESSIVELY SENSITIVE SKIN.
- TAKEN ORAL RETINOIDS IN THE LAST 6 MONTHS (SUCH AS ROACCUTANE)
- HISTORY OF USING DRUGS WITH PHOTOSENSITISING POTENTIAL (SUCH AS ISOTRETINOIN) WITHIN LAST 6 MONTHS.
- PRONE TO KELOID SCARRING
FOR DARKER SKIN TYPES A PATCH TEST MUST BE CARRIED OUT.
AFTERCARE
- The skin may peel or flake but refrain from touching, picking or pulling at any loose skin as this may compromise results.
- The skin can be cleansed with a gentle cleanser with warm / tepid water but the use of soap should be avoided until the skin normalises. Do not scrub. Pat to dry only.
- Avoid the use of benzoyl peroxide or glycolic acid facial skin products for 2 - 3 days after the skin has healed
- Avoid facial products containing fragrance for 5-7 days after treatment as these may irritate the skin.
- Avoid the use of exfoliants, further peeling agents, retinoids, retinols and vitamin A products for 5-7 days after treatment.
- Refrain from saunas, sunbed, steam baths and hot showers for 24 hours.
- Avoid high impact aerobic exercise or vigorous physical activity for 24 hours after treatment.
- Avoid intensive sun exposure, tanning booths or extreme weather conditions for a minimum of 2 weeks.
- Use daily sunscreen protection with a minimum of 30 SPF for at least 1 week after treatment.
- Avoid electrolysis, depilatory creams, waxing and laser hair removal for a minimum of 7 days after treatment.
- Avoid strong chlorinated water (swimming or cleaning) for approximately 14 days.
- Use of an intensive moisturiser is advised for at least a week as skin may feel drier or tighter after treatment.
- Mineral make-up can be applied once skin has settled.
- Any concerns should be reported to your practitioner as soon as possible.
